Crock Pot Applesauce
You can buy applesauce in a jar. And recycle the jar! I do that all the time. But at least once or twice a year it's nice to have the house smell like a Yankee Candle. A smell you can eat!Crock Pot Applesauce
10 large cooking apples -- peeled, cored and sliced
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar (or up to 1 cup) (substitutions fine)
Put apples and water into greased crock pot. Fill about 3/4 full. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hours (high 3 to 4 hours). Puree with an immersion blender or in a food processor and add cinnamon and sugar to taste.
I really like your blog!
ReplyDeleteI just finished making my own crockpot applesauce and this year I bought a food mill. I didn't need to peel or core them. Just quartered them and cooked them on high. Then when they were really soft, I ran them through the food mill and had really nice applesauce.
I am also hoping to try your fruit wraps recipe soon!
